FORT LAUDERDALE, FL. Show creator, Peter Bisuito (aka My Big Funny Peter) and Jeff Roberson (aka Varla Jean Merman) have joined forces to produce a modern gay “Odd Couple” sitcom. The pilot, written by 2 of the funniest gay comics in the world: Peter Bisuito and Jeff Roberson, is now completed and the dynamic duo is actively seeking supporters to produce Season One.
“It has been a lifelong dream of mine to star in a sitcom,” said show creator Peter Bisuito. “In this youth-driven society, I have created a product that not only celebrates gay men, but middle-aged gay men. It’s long overdue!”
“This is the first time in my 25-year career that I am performing out of drag,” said Jeff Roberson. “I wear more make-up as a man than I do as Varla!”
The old school style sitcom, filmed in front of a live studio audience, centers around two middle-aged gay roommates living in Fort Lauderdale. Chester Bateman, (Jeff Roberson), a newly out and recently divorced professor of psychology was just dumped, defrauded and stripped of his life savings by his very first boyfriend. Now, in need of a roommate for financial and emotional support, in walks Vent (Peter Bisuito), an out and proud, free-spirited, sex-craved bartender who’s in need of a place to live. How can these unlikely roommates possibly get along? While Chester tries to find love in his new unknown world, Vent continues his quest for the hottest 24-year-old whose vocabulary does not go beyond, “WAZAAAP!”
“With 2 extremely relatable characters, Vent and Chester promises not only to make you laugh through jokes, one-liners and physical comedy,” Bisuito added, “but its meaningful and endearing moments will make you think while we tackle some of the most important issues of modern day.”
